A definition of art
We can think of art as a mechanism by which disdain for arrogance is communicated. If someone is being arrogant then they are in possession of false beliefs which means that they are (potentially) a threat to nature. When someone is in possession of false beliefs they are vulnerable to ridicule but they are also vulnerable to disdain... as in the case of art. Art enables people to point out and object to arrogance from 'above' rather than from 'below'. We can be superior in our dislike of arrogance as well as submissive and humorous. Art ridicules arrogance from above and not from below as is the case with satire. It is similar to satire but from above not below. Art is like satire but from above not below.
