Drama is often depressing

Fiction is a waste of time because we are not making a truth claim. The truth is amusing and fiction is depressing because when writing fiction we are not making a truth claim and do not risk being wrong. With fiction we are perpetually protected from being wrong because we do not make a truth claim to begin with... which means fiction is a waste of time and depressing. There is no fun in fiction only sadness. The best fiction is the most sad in which case it is something to be avoided. The best form of drama is the most tragic so it is not something to pursue.
