We can work on our allotment if wages are too low
An allotment is an allocation of land given to us by the state or the community in which we live. It is land we can cultivate and use to produce food. If the allotment is sufficiently large and there is enough sunlight and nutrients then we will be able to feed ourselves from the allotment. However if we do not want to support ourselves using the allotment then we can go and find employment in the job market. We have the option to avoid sold work by using our allotment to survive but often it is easier and cheaper to sell our labour elsewhere. We can use the allotment to survive if we can't find work but generally it is cheaper to sell our labour in the employment market.
