The division of labour is also the division of costs

The division of labour is a description for the specialisation of labour and expertise in an economy. People do different things and each of our costs (our desires) is met. It can be traditional to think of this concept in terms of the emergence of many different shops and services... each of which makes up the economy. And this is true. But we can also think of it in terms of the costs each of us has as an individual... which are met by a plethora of different people. Capitalism divides the costs of each individual between those who can best serve those costs... according to our choices.
