It is impossible not to suffer
We are familiar with the notion (from Buddhism) that life is suffering... this is the first of the four noble truths. But from a Western perspective this does not always give us the full picture because the word 'life' indicates that there might be something outside life. In the West we have notions of Heaven and Hell (an afterlife) which means that to be told that life is suffering tells us only that this life is suffering. But in reality all life is suffering. Everything is suffering... it is not possible not to suffer. Unless resources are infinite (which is impossible) then there will be suffering. There is always suffering... in this life or the next.
