We work to improve the lives of others
It is good to work somewhere or on something you would like to see expand. It is not good to not like your boss... you must be happy that your firm does well. When we live in a rich world no one will starve and so you are never providing a service which people need only a service people want. The difference between need and want is that want is an extra... a luxury whereas need is something that being without means we will starve or the equivalent of starve. So if we are not starving then we want to work somewhere we like and want to see prosper. Like being paid to give someone a massage we know that they do not need us to be there but it is better for them that we are. We work to improve the lives of others.. not to prevent them from death. We do not work out of panic to save a poor person (we can give to charity for that) we work to help improve the lives of other people... to make the rich richer. Our employer is rich and we help them get richer when we work for them otherwise our employer is desperate and about to die and clearly that is not the case otherwise it would be a charity. Unless we are working for (being employed by) a charity then we are working to improve the lives of our employer.
