Companies take on staff to become more powerful

In any trade it is the more economically powerful who is giving money to the other. To be in receipt of money is to provide a service for someone more powerful. The same is true when we receive a salary from our employer... the employer has more power than the employed. We sometimes see firms advertise jobs with the slogan ‘help wanted’ but this is misleading since it gives the impression of someone in distress... which is not the case if they are hiring.

The reason for a firm to take on extra staff is not because they are in trouble but because they seek to become even more powerful.
